When I look back at the past few years of www.Noize.com.na, I am amazed at how a simple idea has grow to become an amazing venture and adventure. With a past of much change and transformations to an exciting future of opportunities and possibilities, www.Noize.com.na is more than just another gaming site on the Web. So, if you are interested in finding out what we are all about, keep reading on... some things may just surprise you! www.Noize.com.na did not start as a gaming site, but was started in fact as a site servicing the clubbing, party and DJ community in Namibia, hence the site title being an alternative spelling of the word noise! However, when this initial project hit a dead end, PointBlunt Multimedia Productions cc made an offer to purchase the site in February 2006. So, www.Noize.com.na was official transformed into a gaming and eSport site in March of 2006. It was during this time that PointBlunt Multimedia Productions cc was considering the possibilities that gaming and eSport presented in Namibia and it was then decided to use www.Noize.com.na as a platform to promote and develop gaming and eSport in Namibia. So, www.Noize.com.na was official transformed into a gaming and eSport site in March of 2006 and the first gaming content was published in April of 2006. www.Noize.com.na became the platform by which PointBlunt Multimedia Productions cc could host LANs and tournaments which would develop and promote gaming and eSport as well as grow the gaming community in Namibia. The first official www.Noize.com.na tournament LAN was hosted during December of 2006. The "Call of Duty: United Offensive - 5 man clan LAN" would be the first organised clan tournament hosted in Namibia with prizes and would give rise to the first official clans in Namibia, some still competing today! 2007 was an exciting year for www.Noize.com.na! The site got a design face lift and new content added. Two "Free for Al" LANs were hosted with about 25 gamers joining in the action. (watch the Call of Duty 2 in-game video on YouTube here!) Three official tournaments were also hosted during 2007 and saw a gaming crowed of 40 odd gamers challenging in individual and clan games. By the start of 2008, www.Noize.com.na had a dedicated and committed gaming fan base with around 40 gamers attending gaming events and around 60 registered members. However, 2008 was also a challenging year with a successfully site hack, which not only crippled the site for 3 months, but also resulted in all content being lost inducing articles, files, photos, member registrations and articles. This hack however gave us the perfect opportunity to revamp the site by redesigning the template and by redefining the type of content that would be available on www.Noize.com.na. But more importantly, 2008 was a year that will be a year for the first major LAN and the first public "Shoot out". In December of 2008, www.Noize.com.na hosted the "NamLAN - LAN of the Brave" with the help of enthusiastic gamers and sponsorships from the likes of FNB Namibia, Telecom and One Africa TV. A record (for Namibia) of N$20 000.00 in prizes was up for grabs and a record attendance of just over 60 gamers. The "NamLAN - LAN of the Brave" was the first LAN in Namibia that got the attention of the public, corporate and government attention as well as the international gaming community. Another great development of www.Noize.com.na and the gaming community of Namibia was the start of the first gaming community forum in Namibia, namely www.GamingNamibia.org. Started in April of 2008, the Namibian Gaming Community forum became the official associated forum for www.Noize.com.na, providing the gaming community a local portal to share ideas, tips, event details and views and ideas on games and gear. 2009 Started with a sense of exciting for the Noize Team as the possibility of gaming or eSport may become an official sport in Namibia and www.Noize.com.na is enthusiastic to be part of this amazing process. The start of the first ever ladder leagues in Namibia and the line up of new formatted LANs, is making 2009 a year to remember for gaming in Namibia. We have also started a monthly game give away competition to give back to our members to show our appreciation for their support. www.Noize.com.na will continue to be Namibia's Amped Up Gaming Site by promoting and developing gaming and eSport in Namibia and I look forward to what the future holds for this site. Thanks for your continued support of the this site and the local gaming community and let's hope that we will soon see Namibia participating on the international eSport stage. The site still needs a lot of work and we are hoping to grow the Noize Team this year in order to ensure that the site continues to be the loudest gaming site in Namibia.
Cheers and keep it loud! Brendan Ihmig | MaxImusB Founder & Editor / www.Noize.com.naCo-Owner & Studio+Gaming Manager / PointBlunt Multimedia Productions cc
